You just got your wedding gallery back. You are absolutely obsessed with all the unposed, documentary moments captured. You immediately go to post a carousel on Instagram, but as soon as it goes live, the photos look a little muddy, blurry, or the colors are just slightly off.
What happened? Your photos looked perfect in the gallery! Here are the three most common reasons your professional photos lose their magic on social media and exactly how to make sure your feed looks flawless.
1. You screenshotted the gallery
This is the number one culprit. Taking a screenshot on your phone instantly compresses the image and destroys the resolution. It completely alters the contrast and washes out the colors. Always use the download PIN provided in your gallery email instead of screenshotting.
2. You uploaded the High-Res versions
When you go to download your photos from Pixieset, you will see options for High Resolution and Web Size. High-Res files are massive and meant for printing your photos for your walls. If you try to upload those massive files to Instagram, the app will forcefully compress them to save space. This aggressive compression ruins the sharpness and makes the colors look dull. Always download the Web Size option for social media.
3. You accidentally added a filter
Instagram makes it incredibly easy to accidentally swipe right and apply a subtle filter right before you hit publish. Double-check that your filter is set to Normal so the true colors shine through.
